Week #8 . . . my house is a bug farm!

Image
I feel like every single one of my emails is gonna start like this. But.. this week was wild. We'll stick to the bullet points on this one. 1. We moved into a new apartment! It's a little bigger, and has running water. All has been well other than the fact that we found OVER 50 SPIDERS IN ONE ROOM. Im guessing over 100 in the house. They were all alive and some of them were huge. Spiders are my absolute biggest fear but I'm gonna overcome this fear. Also have a wasp nest, centipedes and cockroaches every where in our house but it's okay . . we're adapting. 2. We had splits with the AP's and they're absolute studs. They taught me so much.  3. We taught an English class to 12 people this week and it was actually so fun. It's nice to be on the other side of learning a language for once haha.  4. I accidentally stepped on a frog during a big rainstorm, in front of some little kids. Pretty traumatic for all of us. 5. Apparently bread doesn't get stale her...

Week #7 . . . this week was nice + new comp!

Image
Yo yo wassup!! Time is absolutely flying by, it seems like no time passes in between each email. Hope you all are enjoying the cold weather for me because I'm not getting much of that. They only have a hot season, and a hot rainy season here. Not much in between.     I apologize, there is always so much crazy stuff that happens in just about every second of every day, but it would never do it justice to try to explain it over an email. Honduras is absolutely nuts. I love it. It's a common thing for people to just walk around with machetes, and the way the traffic moves is just insane. No such thing as staying in your lane, people just pass each other's speed. It's amazing. I could go on and on about the crazy stuff here but I'll save it for another time.      Like I said last week, I got a new comp this week!!!. His name is Elder Melgar and he is from Independence, Missouri. He is a super good missionary and he knows what he is doin...

Week #6 . . . Transfer One down!

I can't believe I finished my first transfer already! The time has been flying by. This week was crazy so i'm going to put it in bullet points because i know nobody wants to read huge paragraphs.  1. Last pday we were playing soccer with some little kids. All of the sudden I looked in the street and saw a dog get run over by a car. It was pretty shocking to see something like that, but what shocked me even more was that nobody even reacted. 2. I ate Cow Utters for dinner one night. I didn't even know what it was until i was almost finished but it was actually pretty good. 3. We have transfers tomorrow, and last night they told me i'm going to get a new companion! Im excited to meet him. Buttt.. that means i have to take an 11 hour bus ride at 11pm tonight, pick up my comp, and then take an 11 hour bus ride back. 22 hours in a bus is boutta be rough. 4. Had no water on my bed all week until saturday night. That night I woke up soaked from the rain so i went to grab a tow...

Week #5 . . . Baptism!

November 1, 2021 This week was a really good week, and the time absolutely flew by. We had a ton of lessons in person which was awesome. Not super crazy like last week, but we did have a BAPTISM!! I'll put a pic down below, along with some other nice pics from the week. Her name is Gladys, and she was one of the best people ive ever met in my life. A few things about her.. - She lives in one of the poorest parts of Honduras. Her house is a tin box. Just a bed and some chairs. - She cannot read. - She is 52 years old. -Was living with her boyfriend (who is married to another girl, but broken up lol) but decided to move out and live separately so she could be baptized. -She has a hurt leg, yet still walks 2 hours to and from church every week. -Has 0 money. She is amazing and that is an experience i will never forget. We had some rain storms that lasted about 2 days. The rain is so loud that we can barely hear each other scream in the house. It comes down hard haha. And once again my...

Week #4 . . . this week was wild!

October 25, 2021 4 weeks in honduras wow!! Some crazy things happened this week. I said in my last email that im not close to the city San Pedro Sula right now so im not gonna have any stories yet.. well i was wrong. I will put them in bullet points cause nobody wants to read huge paragraphs (except my mom).  -Crazy gun shots 3x this week. All at night, and one of them was next door. Each time its like 10 shots that are so dang loud. They keep me on my toes haha. - I ate Shark this week! My area right now is known for having shark meat, and it did not disappoint. Was actually super good. - Saturday night I had a bad allergic reaction while we were pretty far from home. Nothin like being covered in hives trying trying to explain to my companion what is happening in spanish. We ran home and luckily we didnt have to miss a lesson cause they're all over the phone. For about 2 hours, i taught lessons shirtless with my whole body covered in hives. There is one blessing of covid missions ...

Week #3 in Trujillo . . . Big Drip!

Image
October 18, 2021 Sup y'all! Im starting this email out different because I feel like i need to. To all my friends that are just starting a mission, or have already been out for awhile . . go read Alma chapter 38. All of it. The reason for the title of this email is because all of the latino missionaries here love to say "big drip." It's very funny. Btw pics are always at the bottom of these emails. Let me know if it ever doesnt work. Mission life is a grind every day but if im being totally honest, Im loving it. My area right now isnt super developed compared to other parts of Honduras, but it is absolutely beautiful. Im as far away from San Pedro Sula as you can get in my mission, so at least for this transfer im not gonna have many stories about the gangs. However like i said, it is beautiful. The mountains have those big jungle trees, and constantly have fog at the top and it is the coolest thing ever. On top of that our area is a cool beach town and is like basica...

Week #2 in Trujillo . . . Jungle Week!

October 11, 2021 Another week down in the beautiful Honduras. This week had a lot of ups and a lot of downs but overall was a successful week. I got to experience a little bit of the rainstorms down here and they're awesome. I love the rain.        I'd like to say im pretty close to being adjusted to most of the stuff here. Occasionally stuff will happen that'll throw me off guard but for the most part, at least in my area, I feel pretty used to everything. I never have taken so many buses or taxis in my life hahaha its actually crazy. Those rides are always interesting and i actually enjoy them because im a super curious person and i love to look at things so i just look out the window and i stay busy.       I realized I didnt put a pic of my comp in the email last week so ill be sure to do that this week. This week me and my comp set up 9 new baptism dates which was awesome, but already like 2 or 3 of them have stopped answering our calls. Missionary...

Week #1 in Honduras . . . Arrival day and first week inTrujillo . .Bienvenido a Honduras!

September 28, 2021 Mom and Dad,  I am in Honduras!! We got here at about 11, then we got picked up by the AP's and went to a church to eat Food and meet my mission president. I met my trainer, he is a super nice dude from Guatemala. He speaks very little English, but we've been in the mission office all day because we are going to be serving in the furthest area possible from the City. So we didnt have time to drive there today. We're gonna take a bus there tomorrow cause its like an 11 hour bus ride hahaha. Sorry they said i could call you guys but it didnt work. So im just writing an email instead. My new area is called Trujillo, and its known as being the nicer part of Honduras. It was way cool tho cause right as we got into Honduras, this guy from the US started asking me tons of questions and i ended up giving him a book of mormon haha. Anyways you guys should download Whatsapp cause i think thats how i can call you guys on my P-days (on monday). Also i need you guys t...
