Week #3 in Trujillo . . . Big Drip!
October 18, 2021
Sup y'all! Im starting this email out different because I feel like i need to. To all my friends that are just starting a mission, or have already been out for awhile . . go read Alma chapter 38. All of it.
The reason for the title of this email is because all of the latino missionaries here love to say "big drip." It's very funny. Btw pics are always at the bottom of these emails. Let me know if it ever doesnt work.
Mission life is a grind every day but if im being totally honest, Im loving it. My area right now isnt super developed compared to other parts of Honduras, but it is absolutely beautiful. Im as far away from San Pedro Sula as you can get in my mission, so at least for this transfer im not gonna have many stories about the gangs. However like i said, it is beautiful. The mountains have those big jungle trees, and constantly have fog at the top and it is the coolest thing ever. On top of that our area is a cool beach town and is like basically just a big hill. At the bottom of the hill is the ocean, and you can sometimes see over the houses the ocean. Its amazing and i feel so blessed to be here.
Since my area doesnt have running water, we have to use bucket showers and use a bucket to wash all of our clothes and dishes. This week I decided to shine a flash light at night into that bucket and boy. Bad idea. Our bucket shower water is filled with bugs and stuff and its pretty nasty. There is also frequently bugs in my bed and food but i guess its just more protein. All my gym rats know.
haha just jokes but i am slowly adjusting to that.
haha just jokes but i am slowly adjusting to that. Funny story that happened this week.. so all of the Meat here usually has bones you need to pick out. But ive realized my companions meals NEVER have bones and i was wondering why. I always have a plate with bones after dinner and he never does. Well this week i came to the realization that yes in fact my comp does have the bones, but he just eats them. Dont know how, dont know why. Just built different thats all i can say.
The spirit has been so strong here and the people are amazing. Being around only spanish speakers has been tough to understand at times but i am learning so much every day and finding ways to find peace. My comp has been super patient with me in spanish, and i am even teaching him english so its been awesome. One thing i learned this week was how powerful the hymns are. To me, they are like scripture. I love to listen to them and read the lyrics. Those words are so strong. I also miss country music so bad but im gonna have to get over that for awhile.
Anyways I hope you all are enjoying life! Life is precious. Enjoy this next week. I love you all!
