Week #7 . . . this week was nice + new comp!

Yo yo wassup!! Time is absolutely flying by, it seems like no time passes in between each email. Hope you all are enjoying the cold weather for me because I'm not getting much of that. They only have a hot season, and a hot rainy season here. Not much in between.
I apologize, there is always so much crazy stuff that happens in just about every second of every day, but it would never do it justice to try to explain it over an email. Honduras is absolutely nuts. I love it. It's a common thing for people to just walk around with machetes, and the way the traffic moves is just insane. No such thing as staying in your lane, people just pass each other's speed. It's amazing. I could go on and on about the crazy stuff here but I'll save it for another time.
Like I said last week, I got a new comp this week!!!. His name is Elder Melgar and he is from Independence, Missouri. He is a super good missionary and he knows what he is doing. Funny story haha he served the first 15 months of his mission in the SLC South mission and served in areas where my house is.. Small world!! He spoke Spanish with his family before the mission though so he is super good. Something that I absolutely love about him is that he prays SO much. Doesn't matter where we are, who is around, if he needs help, if he is grateful for something, he prays. This week we were looking for investigators and had no idea where to go. In front of passing cars and a bunch of people he just told me to get on my knees and say a prayer. He's a really good guy and I'm excited to work with him.
We also had a really cool opportunity to have a devotional with Elder Gong and the other Central American missions. Being in the presence of an apostle, even over zoom is just a feeling that you can't explain. The spirit is so powerful and so present. He gave some great advice to all of us which will be very beneficial.
There is a presidential election coming up on the 28th of November (in 2 Sundays). And everybody is saying that this place turns into The Purge during elections. In about a week and a half I will have to stay in my house and I can't go outside. Church is shut down that week, and the missionaries can't leave our houses. People block off the streets and just go crazy lighting things on fire and shootin what they want so we'll be inside and safe during that time. This morning we bought some food storage type stuff for that week, and we stacked up on so many good foods so we'll be all good. It's also cool how good the members and everyone here is taking care of us. Every time we see people they tell us about the election and tell us to stay inside and everything we need to do. They're taking good care of me here!
That's all I got for this week! I'm positive I'm going to remember a bunch of things I should have put in the email from last week but for now that is all that i can think of. Hope this week was another good one! Love and miss you all.
